Our Story Starts in Surf City

From bold breakfast dreams to a brunch-filled reality, meet the women and veterans behind Surf City's most inclusive dining spot.

Local Roots, Global Vision

Women-Owned. Veteran-Owned. Community-Driven.

Holy Nhiza Freitas and Erika Ross didn’t just open a restaurant—they built a social space rooted in Surf City’s community heartbeat. As proud veterans and passionate food lovers, they knew from day one that their mission was bigger than a menu. Drawing on their diverse backgrounds, the duo fused their global influences into every plate, creating a breakfast-and-brunch hub where everyone feels welcome. Backed by longtime locals Gina and Santino, The Patio at the Surf quickly became a neighborhood anchor. It’s not just about what we serve. It’s about who we serve and how we make them feel.

Built to Welcome All

Radical Hospitality in Every Bite

At The Patio at the Surf, hospitality isn’t an afterthought—it’s our entire operating system. From the start, Holy and Erika envisioned a place that was inclusive, relaxed, and real. Whether you're LGBTQ+, wheelchair-using, commuting early, or brunching with your dog, you belong here. We open our doors every day at 6:00 AM with one goal: to be a space where good food meets good energy. Our pet-friendly patio, accessible layout, and full bar are all part of that promise. Because in Surf City, community matters. And that starts with creating a place where everyone is truly welcome.
